Hotel-restaurant "De Vrouwe van Stavoren" has beside the hotel rooms a nice restaurant. There they have traditional dishes but also a number of enjoyable fish specialities. Hotel-restaurant "De Vrouwe van Stavoren" has the atmosphere of the old days but the comfort of modern age.
The rooms
Hotel-restaurant "De Vrouwe van Stavoren" has 4 beautiful "hotel barrels" with colour television, radio, telephone and a comfertable bathroom.The four hotel barrels are original Swiss wine barrels of 15000 liters each. The hotel has converted their wine barrels to luxury little rooms. Some of them have an extended sitting room.
From only 63,40 inclusive breakfast you can stay in this special accomodation. If you like, you can also have supper in the hotel. There are also several special arrangements.
It is not allowed to smoke in the wine barrels. Pets are welcome.
The Vicinity
Stavoren was in the past as "Zuiderzee" harbour the biggest and richest city in Friesland.
Nowadays this beautiful fishing town on the IJssel lake is a wonderful place for tourists who want to recreate on or near the water.Stavoren has a lot more besides the beaches, the old harbour and the new marinas: the closeby forest, the village Molkwerum with a museum in her formal cookies factory or the village Laaxum with the smallest harbour of the world.
In this part of Friesland there are numurous galleries, churches, musea and gardens to make your holiday a real pleasure. A nice trip is a crossing to Enkhuizen by boat.
You can try to feel as a real "Fries": sail on a real "skūtsje" -a special ship-, go "kaatsen" -a sport like tennis- or walk a "wad" - shallow-.
