Lodging in a 17th century storehouseDescriptionSpent a night in a beautiful renovated 17th century warehouse!![]() In the middle of the ancient city centre of Harlingen, The Netherlands, you can find the hotel 'Stadslogement Almenum' (city lodging Almenum); a unique location with a special lodging for long or short stay! In a renovated 17th century storehouse and four labourer houses there are twelve luxury apartments, an ideal base of operations for trips in beautiful 'Friesland' (North of Holland)! The buildings can be found in quarter Almenum in the old city centre of Harlingen, next to the reformed church. Quarter Almenum used to be almost completely owned by a rich merchant family, family Hanekuyck. This noble family owned the storehouse and the next building, now accommodating the reception. In the old days the reception building was used as coach-house, the top floor was the sleeping place of servants and charioteers. At present we use the top floor as two-room lodgings. The ground floor later was used as gunny factory. The storehouse was built in the 17th century and was completely renovated in 1993/1994. As far as records show the building was always used for storing goods of all kind. It had been abandoned for years and was completely deteriorated.
