Description
An overnight stay in a museum is something special.
Museum and art gallery Lammert Boerma opened in 1993 and shows the art and the life of visual artist Lammert Boerma (1948).
The museum contents 13 rooms. You can enjoy the paintings, portraits, sculptures, drawings, photographs, furniture and architecture. Museum Lammert Boerma shows the life, work and living: the functioning as a visual artist. The museum is a modern Rembrandt/Rubens house. The only difference is that this artist is still alive.
Your room contents paintings and other art objects from the museum collection. In the morning you can enjoy a glorious breakfast in the "Blue Room". In this Blue Room there is also a lot of art to see. Breakfast will be served when you wish but at the latest on 10.00 hrs.
If you stay in Museum Lammert Boerma is a visit to the museum free, of course. A lot of the architecture in the museum is also designed by Lammert Boerma.
You can book several rooms in the Museum: the Bridal Suite, the Big Room (Art-deco), the Antique Room and the 'normal' rooms.
The museum is originally not qualified for disabled, but a lot of people stayed in the museum with pleasure. With some improvisation you can accomplish a lot!
It is not allowed to smoke in the bedrooms. There is one living room where you can smoke.
Pets are allowed but for the bigger ones you have to consult the management.
The Vicinity
Museum Lammert Boerma is situated in Borgercompagnie, a little village in the peat district
in the province Groningen. The neighbouring village, Tripscompagnie, is also a peat-village cultivated by Adriaan Trip in 1648.This village is largely in its originally state.
3 Kilometres from Museum Boerma the Adriaan Trip-wood is situated. In the summer you can swim in the lake. There is also a beach.
In the direction of Muntendam there is The Heemtuin (garden). For the nature-lovers there is a lot of flora & fauna. There is also some artwork to see in The Heemtuin.
At 6 kilometres you can find park Borgerswold and the Groninger Museum is 15 minutes per car or train. In Slochteren you can visit Fraeylemaborg (a kind of castle). The Zuidlaardermeer (lake) is on 8 kilometre.
In the neighbourhood there is also a museum for skates, Borg Welgelegen (castle) with a French garden and the Veelkoloniaal Museum (about peat & cultivation) in Veendam. In the vicinity of Museum Lammert Boerma there are a lot of artists with galleries with paintings and other art.
