The Ice Hotel Québec in Canada is opened for the sixth season.
A stay in the hotel, made of the purest of all materials: ice and snow, is a quite remarkable experience.
The Ice Hotel opens in January untill the spring melts the snow at early April.
Because of the attention of the media worldwide the Ice Hotel has welcomed the first five years 220.000 visitors, from whom 10.500 spent the night in the magical rooms.
You almost can't possibly imagine it: An hotel made of 12,000 tons of snow and 400 ton of ice with ceilings of nearly 5.5 metres high. The walls are covered with original art and the furniture is hewed from ice. It took 5 weeks to make this architectural masterpiece.
Facilities hotel
The decoration of the Ice Hotel is, of course, different every year.This year 34 beautiful rooms and theme-suites were made, a wedding chapel, an immense lobby, two patios, a theatre, fire places and a reception with the name N'ice Club Hotel the Glace. Visit one of the Ice Hotel's most celebrated attractions. Sip on one of our famous Ice glasses, while listening to the Ice Hotel's official music group 'Water on Mars'.
The cost for one night starts from 199 Canadian dollars.
No pets are allowed in the Ice Hotel, only seeing-eye dogs.
It is not allowed to smoke in the Ice Hotel. As from May 2006 Quebec changed the laws to prohibit smoking in all public places.
Disabled people are welcome in the Ice Hotel. They just need a helper due to the snowy nature of the floors.
Activities and neighbourhood
In the winter the neighbourhood of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier is sensational.
The activities of the Ice Hotel are designed to ensure you experience winter at its best. Take a snowmobile ride, a dogsledding ride, go ice fishing or go cross-country skiing.The Ice Hotel opens for the public from 10:00 a.m to midnight. Public tours are a great occasion for passing tourists and Quebecois of all ages to discover this unique and fascinating winter architectural marvel.
Guided tours are available from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, in English at every hour and in french at every half hour. Tours take approximately 30 minutes and are filled with information and interesting facts about the Ice Hotel. After a tour, you can discover the rest of what the Ice Hotel has to offer on your own!
